New research from Interflora has found that women in the UK still struggle to speak up about the issues that affect them.
Some 43% of women do not feel confident sharing their truth, afraid that their voices won’t be trusted or that they will be trolled.
But speaking out matters, with 42% of women agreeing that they feel more empowered to do so when they see other women do the same.

With this in mind and ahead of International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March, Interflora has partnered with Emily Atack on a campaign that celebrates brilliantly outspoken women.
“For the Love of Women” aims to highlight the barriers women face in speaking out and encourage all women to do so with confidence.
As a visual representation of women’s empowerment, and because it has long been linked to confidence, self-expression and empowerment, Interflora is encouraging women to put on red lipstick and take to their social channels to say more about any topic they want to champion.
The conversation will be led by Emily Atack and supported with influencers across Instagram and TikTok, in partnership with Project Cosmetics.
Bethany Day, Brand Manager, Interflora, said:Â “At Interflora we believe sharing how you truly feel matters so when we found that many women still struggle to speak up, we wanted to give them the confidence to say more.
“58% of women say they feel most empowered to speak their mind when they’re feeling confident. Confidence comes in many forms including the act of putting on and wearing a bold red lip.
“It’s why this International Women’s Day we’re asking women to put on their red lipstick and confidently say more about something they want to champion whilst encouraging others to do the same.”
