YouTube has revealed the top ten most watched adverts on its platform for 2020, with Nike’s You Can’t Stop Us taking the top spot.
If you’re not familiar with the list, the year-end YouTube Ads Leaderboard celebrates the ads that got the most views, shares, and all-around love from YouTube audiences around the globe.
As this year brought unprecedented and unpredictable shifts for both consumers and brands, one thing remained true: Now, more than ever, people are turning to YouTube.
YouTube’s top ten ads – the numbers
Ads this year generated a massive 470 million+ views and 1.3 million+ likes – with 714,000 of those likes going to Clash of Clan’s short film, Lost and Crowned.
And while the list often features ads from the Super Bowl, the top game-day ad in 2020 hit a different tone than usual.
Google’s Super Bowl spot Loretta received many accolades after it shared the emotional, true story of an 85-year-old man who uses Google products to help him ‘not forget’ the memory of his late wife. (Interesting fact: He’s also the grandfather of a Google employee.)
But it was Nike’s You Can’t Stop Us that took the top spot for the second time, with a video that spoke to the power of resilience through the emotional comeback stories of sports icons Lebron James, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods and more.
Clearly, 2020 is a year no-one is going to forget. from the global coronavirus pandemic to the Black Lives Matter movement.
So here are the most watched of YouTube’s Top Ads Leaderboard.
