Yorkshire Fire Service has created a defiant LGBT video response to homophobes who abused it for posting a rainbow flag on its facebook page.
Yorkshire Fire Service
The South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue team posted the flag as its tribute to LGBT History month last year. However, the emergency service team were met with a barrage of abuse from social media trolls for posting the flag.
So it’s responded in the best way possible – with a video calling out the abuse and slapping down the homophobia.
The message of the film is ultimately that ‘fire doesn’t discriminate – neither do we”. The one-minute 31 second long video mocks its detractors in hilarious deadpan fashion.
Various members of the courageous firefighting team read out the vicious comments they’ve received. At the same time they also proudly show their LGBT support in a variety of humorous ways.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue then posted the video onto its social media pages.
On its Twitter page it wrote: “Last year we got a load of abuse when we added the rainbow flag to our profile picture. We don’t think homophobic abuse is acceptable and we stand with all those LGBT+ people we serve and employ. Thanks for the comments…”
