We Are Social opens Jakarta bureau as it expands in Southeast Asia


Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has opened a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of its continued expansion into Southeast Asia.

The new office in Jakarta ensures that We Are Social can drive growth for clients within Indonesia’s vibrant business community, marketing to its 280 million+ potential consumers.

Its inaugural clients include local telco Ofon, Etawalin goat milk brand and health tech startup Klikdokter, briefing We Are Social to develop brand playbooks and socially-led marketing strategies to run across Indonesia.

Yudhi Hastiardi leads the team in Indonesia, which currently has five people, as Managing Director.

He brings 20 years of advertising and tech experience to the role, and joins We Are Social from Nava+, where he was Head of Innovation and Business Development.

He also built Saatchi & Saatchi’s subsidiary agency in Indonesia and launched psLIVE, an award-winning experiential agency in the Dentsu Aegis Network.

Hastiardi will report to Christina Chong, who was recently promoted to We Are Social’s CEO, Southeast Asia with a remit of leading growth efforts in the region, and building on We Are Social’s innovative offerings both locally and globally.

Chong leads We Are Social’s Singapore office, which now has a team of 90 and works with brands such as Samsung and Amazon.

She also oversees the agency’s growing footprint in Malaysia, where We Are Social has creative and production capabilities, and plans to expand this to include innovation expertise.

“Launching in Indonesia has always been part of long-term growth plans, as well as building teams in locations like Malaysia where we can tap into the wealth of local talent,” Chong said.

“In Indonesia, Yuhdi and his team will not only serve local brands, but also expand We Are Social’s footprint in the key Southeast Asia market and I know he’s excited to build a strong, ideas-focused team.
