WACL has launched a unique mug collection to celebrate the people who have inspired us in 2021 this Christmas.

Kate Waters, WACL President explained: “As the year draws to a close, what better time to celebrate those who have supported us and been allies in our work accelerating gender equality?

“So you can now say thank you with one of our four, brand new, limited edition WACL-branded mugs, each with a quote from a woman who has helped light up the world.”

Inspirational mug collection comments include:

Michelle Obama, “Choose people who lift you up”

Malala Yousafzai, “We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back”

Serena Williams, “We’re strongest when we cheer each other on”

Kamala Harris, “I’m speaking.”

The mugs are not for profit and priced at cost, at £12.99. They feature WACL’s refreshed brand design created by Joint London, were created by Carol Chan of Comms8 and are available to buy here.

Joint founder and WACL Exec Committee Member, Lori Meakin said: “2021 has been a difficult year for everyone. Sadly, it’s also a year in which progress towards gender equality has taken a backwards step.

“The gender pay gap has widened. Despite many of us working from home, fully flexible working is still far from the norm. Women have borne more of the practical and emotional burden of COVID in their domestic lives.

“And they have suffered disproportionately higher job losses than men. As an industry, we’re still under- and mis-representing women on our screens as well as in our workplaces.

“And all of this is exacerbated when we look at women in intersectional spaces of race, class or disability. But there’s lots we can do if we all work together to create change.”

As such, WACL supports the next generation of women on their leadership journey and campaigns for change in areas that will accelerate gender equality.

Everyone in our industry can get involved in this work, by joining as an ally, and signing up emerging women leaders for any of its Talent initiatives.

“We do something beyond that, too, that’s absolutely vital. We inspire each other. We support each other. We celebrate each other. We help lift each other up,” said Meakin. “Cheers!”
