Video-sharing app TikTok supports anti-bullying week

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, is announcing its support of Anti-Bullying Week this year, which is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, to raise awareness and support young people who have/are experiencing bullying.

As part of its ongoing commitment to creating a safe, positive environment for the TikTok community, TikTok is proud to show its support and help raise awareness for this important topic.

Today, TikTok is launching a hashtag challenge in line with this year’s theme, #ChangeStartsWithUs

Solidarity against bullying

The challenge will allow the TikTok community, which prides itself on being friendly, inclusive and supportive, to stand in solidarity against bullying both online and offline and address the issue in fun, inventive and creative ways.

The challenge calls on creators to try making a difference together in openly telling everyone that bullying (online or offline) is not OK.

This is the second time in a row we are proudly supporting Anti-Bullying Week to support and drive awareness of bullying”, Elizabeth Kanter, Director of Global Public Policy at TikTok said.
“Through this joint initiative, we will be highlighting how empowering users to take control of their online lives can make a big change in fighting bullying, while continuing to support our diverse and positive community.”

Martha Evans, Director of the Anti-Bullying Alliance said, “Change starts with all of us this Anti-Bullying Week.

“Our work with young people has shown there is more we can all do to address bullying both online and face to face.

“Of course, that means change on a national scale – for example, improving support online or conducting research – but it’s also about the everyday actions that each of us can take to help someone who is suffering because of bullying.

“That’s the idea behind ‘Change Starts With Us’, and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved.”

The activity is part of a larger TikTok For Good programme, which wants to inspire and encourage the new generation to have a positive impact on the planet and on those around them.
