Brand experience and packaging design agency Vault49 has announced two internal promotions, aimed at strengthening the agency’s creative leadership in London.

Established in 2002, New York-based agency Vault49 opened a second studio in London in early 2019 to support its clients based in the UK and Europe.

Jonny Bateman was one of the studio’s first full time hires, originally joining as Design Director.

“Naturally charismatic and always inspiring, Jonny’s collaborative, people-centric approach has seen him build strong bonds with clients and colleagues alike.“ said Paul Woodvine, Partner & Managing Creative Director of Vault49 in London.

“With natural leadership qualities, Jonny has been instrumental in the growth of the London studio since joining, and I’m looking forward to evolving the business and building on our team’s unique creative culture together.”

Working in close collaboration with Paul and the senior leadership team in New York, Bateman will now take responsibility for leading Vault49’s creative vision across the London studio’s clients, which include Diageo, EA Sports and PepsiCo.

He will also continue to build on the expertise and skillsets within the London studio and grow his team, placing a particular emphasis on mentoring and creating a collaborative, experimental and supportive working environment.

At the same time, Gali Lucas has been promoted from Senior Designer to Design Director.

Originally joining the London studio in 2020, Gali quickly established herself as an indispensable member of the team, the firm said.

Commenting on her promotion  Woodvine said: “Gali is an exceptionally talented creative and conceptual thinker with a true passion for craft.

“Since joining the team, she has also proven to be a skilful leader who balances both a creative and strategic mindset. Gali has a knack for getting the best out of those who work with her, and I have no doubt that she’ll be an excellent Design Director.”

As well as leading projects for the studio’s key clients, Lucas will also continue her involvement in Vault49’s wider initiatives supporting up-and-coming creative talent.

Jonathan Kenyon Co-Founder of Vault49, said: “These promotions are well deserved and I couldn’t be prouder of everything the London team has achieved, particularly when the majority of that has been during a global pandemic.

“With some exciting projects in the pipeline, plus recent pitch wins across both our London and New York studios, I’m looking forward to working closely with Paul, Jonny, Gali and the rest of the team to continue delivering excellence in creativity for our clients, and building on the strong foundations we’ve set in London.”
