Two Rivers Media confirms it has cut ties with Escape to the Chateau duo

The production company behind Channel 4’s Escape to the Chateau series has confirmed it will no longer work with the stars of the long-running series, Angel and Dick Strawbridge.

Two Rivers Media confirmed to Mediashotz that it was no longer working with the pair, but said it could not go into the reasons why, for the moment.

“We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment”, the company said in an emailed response to Mediashotz.

Channel 4 has reportedly also cut ties with the husband-and-wife stars of the hit reality series, although it has not yet responded to requests from Mediashotz on the issue.

Although the series wrapped last year, the duo have been filming a spin-off series, which has also wrapped, but it’s unclear whether or not that will now air according to media reports.

Citing sources, entertainment news site Deadline wrote that Two Rivers Media, the company that produces the Escape To The Chateau shows, “had raised concerns about the Strawbridges and said it would no longer work with the couple”.

Dick and Angel Strawbridge became household names as Escape to the Chateau charted their progress renovating a dilapidated Chateau in Western France.

The show ran for nine seasons and has included a number of spin-offs.

Deadline wrote that, although no details were given, the chateau-owning duo clashed with producers and were abusive to some members of the production team.

According to the report, Channel 4 launched an investigation into the issue, which was carried out by an independent HR professional.

The news site quoted a Channel 4 spokeswoman as saying: “Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.”

As well as TV sponsors for the series, the couple’s website for the chateau includes collaborations with top British high street brands such as Next and Homebase.
