Behavioural planning agency, Total Media Group, today announced that it is the first and so far only independent media agency in the UK to offer clients completely carbon neutral advertising campaigns.

Amid the industry-wide ‘Ad Net Zero’ campaign drive to reduce the carbon impact of developing, producing and running advertising by 2030, Total Media will now be able to offer clients the opportunity to completely offset the carbon cost of their media plans.

The announcement also comes as part of the agency’s development to now running completely carbon neutral, three years ahead of its 2025 goal, and eight years before the Ad Net Zero target, reflecting Total Media’s commitment to meeting the highest standards of environmental performance.

Total Media Group partnered with a leading climate solutions agency, who assessed the environmental impact of previous media campaigns and helped to calculate the impact of carbon offsetting.

A number of brands, both current and prospective clients, have expressed interest in making the switch to carbon neutral advertising campaigns, as they look to reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable.

This announcement comes less than a year after Total Media Group became the first independent UK agency to achieve B-Corp status, joining a group of companies dedicated to building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Pedro Martins, Chief Growth Officer at Total Media said: “We’re extremely proud of the progress we’ve made as an agency in developing our sustainability and the measures we’re implementing to help tackle the climate challenge.

“However, there is of course further to go – we are still at the beginning of a long journey.

“Sustainability is at the top of the marketing agenda this year for most CMOs and more than ever we’re seeing businesses looking to partner with agencies who are like-minded.

“We’re thrilled to work with clients who are aligned with our carbon neutral values,  and look forward to the exciting work we’ve got planned going forward.”
