Total Media becomes first UK indy agency to achieve B Corp status

Total Media B Corp 2

Behavioural planning agency, Total Media has announced it is the first and only independent media agency in the UK to achieve B Corp status.

This status is awarded to companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance.

B Corp status

By becoming a B Corp certified business, Total Media joins a group of companies, across a wide range of industries, who are dedicated to building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

The status displays Total Media’s commitment to meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Other UK businesses with the accolade include Co-op Bank, Innocent Drinks, Brewdog, Patagonia, Kickstarter and Etsy.

The rigorous process to achieve B Corp status was led by Mike Sell, Chairman at Total Media, supported by a dedicated team working across all departments and levels across the agency.

In order to maintain certification, Total Media must undergo verification every three years and continue to demonstrate its positive impact.

Achieving B-CORP status is just the beginning of the journey for us – not the destination” Sell said.

“It’s taken us nearly two years, with a team of dedicated volunteers from across the agency, and this recognition is a clear demonstration that the values of sustainability, local community and focusing beyond profit run at the heart of the Total Media Group.

“During the process, one of our team leaders said it perfectly: “You’ll spend a quarter of your week at work – why not try and create the kind of company you want to work for?”

“We were so inspired by the many organisations who had already achieved B-CORP status and we hope, in our own way, to be an inspiration for others to follow.”
