Composer Tom Fletcher has announced that Thread of Hope, the song he wrote especially for a new Pudsey animation, will be released as a single on Christmas Eve.

The heartfelt track features a touching duet with his 11-year-old son, Buzz, which they recorded with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

A teaser for the accompanying music video offers a glimpse of Tom and Buzz sharing light-hearted moments as they prepared for their emotional father-son performance on BBC Children in Need.

The video is beautifully interwoven with scenes from the animation and clips of young performers from The Habbit Factory inclusive theatre programme, who also lend their voices to the track.

Speaking on The One Show alongside Buzz, Fletcher said: “It’s been amazing seeing Pudsey brought to life in animation for the first time. It was such an honour.

“ I wanted to write for animation for ages and so finding myself with the responsibility of another iconic bear… I don’t know why I’ve got all these bears in my life at the minute! It’s Pudsey’s 40th anniversary and to be on Christmas Eve is really special.”

The animation Pudsey and the Thread of Hope will air at 10.20am on Christmas Eve on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The single Thread of Hope will be available to stream and download from Christmas Eve, with the full music video debuting on BBC Children in Need’s YouTube channel the same day.
