The Writer names former CCO Charli Nordone as CEO

Brand language consultancy The Writer today announced that Charli Nordone has been promoted to the permanent position of Chief Executive Officer.

Charli Nordone

Nordone brings with her 20 years of experience in the creative industry – including varied consultancy, training and leadership roles at The Writer – and has worked with many of the world’s biggest brands including Unilever, Cisco and HSBC.

After joining the agency as a copywriter in 2010, she later became Head of Training, Creative Director, and Chief Creative Officer, before taking over as interim CEO in October 2023.

Nordone’s track record, industry profile and vision for the future – including a proactive stance on the role of AI in writing – make her the perfect fit to lead The Writer, said the company, which has specialised in business writing, tone of voice and training since 2000.

“The Writer’s Board and I are delighted to make Charli’s move to CEO permanent,” said Martin Hennessey, Founder and board member of The Writer.

“Charli has a wonderfully compassionate, creative and entrepreneurial leadership style. Her laser-focus on data is already driving more consistent growth in our Asia, US and UK markets.”

Commenting on her appointment, Nordone said: “My two main areas of focus are employee experience and our product offering.”

“I’m driven by the challenge of becoming a more inspiring, virtual employer and by how The Writer can harness the power of AI to expand the many ways we already help our clients.

“I remember the day I got the call saying I’d got a job at The Writer. I was so excited, and honoured. 14 years later I still feel the exact same way.”
