Alexander Craig is promoted from within The Sun commercial team, having previously held the position of Senior Sales Manager.

He is joined by Laurence Saleh, who bolsters the team with his experience in programmatic sales at JCDecaux and Condé Nast.

Craig and Saleh will be tasked with generating incremental revenues for The Sun. This will involve leveraging News UK’s first-party data platform Nucleus to introduce new clients to The Sun’s audiences and, through Nucleus’ pre-campaign insight, help maximise ROI for our brands.

The premium programmatic leads will focus on new business and on clients in underrepresented ad categories across The Sun.

They will also provide support and expertise to the wider Sun commercial team, consulting with advertisers as they continue to invest through direct programmatic channels in the premium web, supported by The Sun’s rich first-party data.

Craig commented: “I’m thrilled to have been promoted to Programmatic Sales Lead for The Sun. Our sales team is going from strength-to-strength and I am excited to be leading us into the next phase of programmatic development.”

Saleh said: “It is exciting to be joining The Sun’s commercial team at such a pivotal time. I look forward to utilising my expertise to maximise the possibilities on offer and expand the capabilities of our strong team.”

And Owen Griffiths, Commercial Director, The Sun, said: “The value of publisher first-party data is growing as third-party cookies are withdrawn. We want to ensure that clients can benefit from our rich data sets irrespective of how they want to buy that digital media.

“These roles will undoubtedly strengthen our position with current and prospective customers, helping to connect their brands with The Sun’s communities through the power of our content and data.”

Premium programmatic sales was integrated into The Sun Publishing team in 2022. Since then, the team has driven significant revenue growth year-on-year from Programmatic Guaranteed and Private Marketplace sales during the 2023 fiscal year, the company said.
