Showbiz stars Elton John and Michael Caine front NHS COVID jab ad

showbiz stars in NHS covid ad

Showbiz legends Sir Elton John and Sir Michael Caine have both appeared in an NHS ad campaign sending themselves in support of the COVID vaccine.

The hilarious advert, in which Elton John sends himself up by apparently failing to impress the film’s producers as they audition for a part in the ad, was created by the NHS’s in house creatives.

It’s part of a big push to get the country vaccinated and get lockdown lifted once and for all. So far, the vaccine roll-out has been a big success, and with cases having peaked, we may be starting to see the benefits of it. With shops and restaurants being closed for almost a year, many are desperate to reopen (displaying these printable vaccination signs in their windows to push for vaccines further), so it’s good to know that our national treasures like Elton and Michael are protected and helping to drive forward vaccine progress.

A bit more show biz

In the comic turn, Elton is asked by of camera producers to be ‘a little less showbiz’ and then conversely, ‘a little more showbiz’.

The Rocketman singer also gives the world a rendering of his best Michael Caine accent and references his own hit song “I’m Still Standing’ to describe how he felt after having received the vaccine.

Elton, is 73 years old and Caine in rude health at 87, and both A-list stars were hired to help get the message across to reassure the older generation it is safe to get themselves vaccinated.

The advert has been posted to the NHS YouTube page and is also being circulated around its social media platforms.

Sir Elton posted a message to his Twitter profile supporting the NHS’s vaccine effort: “I am proud to join forces with @themichaelcaine to promote the fantastic @NHSEngland #COVIDVaccine program, demonstrating how quick and easy it is to get vaccinated and why it’s so important.

“Let’s all come together and do our bit in the fight against this wretched disease.”
