Purplebricks picks UM as media agency of record

Purplebricks, the UK tech-led estate agency has appointed UM UK  as its media agency of record.

The appointment followed an extensive and competitive pitch process that started in January this year and marks the latest phase of Purplebricks step-changing its marketing activity as it looks to significantly expand its market share.

The pitch was run in conjunction with Mediasense and will see UM working closely with the Purplebricks marketing team to develop a new data driven regional and national marketing and brand strategy.

The appointment will begin in June with UM managing a media spend of around £7m.

“The disruptive model and technology that Purplebricks offers is a perfect fit with UM’s forward-thinking marketing approach”, said Simon Taylor, Managing Partner at UM London.

“We are delighted to be joining forces to accelerate their business growth and through a data-led and audience-first approach to media.

“During this pitch process, we were determined to prove that UM’s futureproof proposition, as well as our first-class planning solutions, both nationally and locally, makes us the ideal progressive agency partner for Purplebricks.

“We are excited to see what lies ahead for this partnership and can’t wait to get stuck in,”

“93%  of all house and flat sales are still done on the high street so there is significant opportunity for us to transform the property sector. We will be working very closely with UM to develop a data-driven media and brand strategy that gets more UK house sellers and buyers using Purplebricks.”

Ben Carter, Purplebricks Chief Marketing Officer, said: “UM demonstrated very strong strategic thinking throughout what was a very competitive process and we were particularly impressed with their local marketing capabilities – and are looking forward to working closely with them to help transform our marketing”.
