Wunderman Thompson UK has been appointed by Pets at Home Group, the UK’s leading pet care business, to help them achieve their ambition of delivering a best-in-class seamless digital experience for its customers.

Pets at Home’s commitment is to ensure pets and their owners get the very best advice, products, and care they need. Today, vets play an important role in protecting both animal and human health. In most situations, pet owners get into a frenzy mode when their pet falls ill or displays any kind of abnormal behavior. Then immediately, they turn to their local veterinarian or to someone they visit occasionally for checkups. In light of this, there could be an increase in the opportunities for veterinary jobs. And, Pets at Home is determined to make these services readily available to individuals who require them most and discover it difficult to acquire them.

Along with its retail offer, the Group provides the first opinion veterinary services through its Vets4Pets practices as well as operating dog grooming salons in many of its stores.

To give customers the best access to all these products and services and improve their experience, the company is transforming its digital operations, adding new capabilities, and creating hybrid teams.

Wunderman Thompson will lead in researching, designing and delivering CX, UX and UI services to support all digital channels for Pets at Home, and provide advice and support throughout the project.

Wunderman Thompson will work closely with fellow WPP agency The&Partnership, which was recently appointed by Pets at Home to handle brand identity, social and above-the-line responsibilities.

This builds on other successful integrated partnerships between the two agencies for clients including Centrica, Toyota, Lexus and News UK.

Pip Hulbert, CEO of Wunderman Thompson, said: “Pets at Home’s ambitious and future facing vision, centred on a connected experience, is why we get out of bed in the morning.

“Their brief plays perfectly into our skillset and culture and we’re excited to be a part of such a transformative journey.

“I can’t pretend we’re not excited to spend time showcasing some of the nation’s fluffiest inhabitants either.”

Marc Sbardella, Group Head of Digital Product at Pets at Home, said: “Wunderman Thompson demonstrated an impressive understanding of our business challenges, our customers and their pets, whilst clearly having a passion for connecting the digital experience across our entire organisation.

“Their integrated thinking and approach really sealed the deal for us, and we can’t wait to begin working with them on building the world’s best pet care ecosystem.”

Wunderman Thompson has been appointed following a competitive pitch with Pets at Home running the process in house.
