NDA launches new weekly media industry podcast

Mediashotz - media industry podcast It's Always Media Thursday

New Digital Age has launched a new media industry podcast which promises to put the sector under a slightly irreverent and not very scientific microscope.

Called It’s Always Media Thursday, the podcast is housed on NDA’s website. NDA is owned by media and marketing firm Bluestripe Media Group.

Media industry podcast

The weekly show is hosted by NDA Publisher Andy Oakes and Editor Justin Pearse, who told listeners that it will be “informal, fascinating, insightful and incisive”, but just perhaps not very “illuminating”, clearly sign-posting the entertaining skew it plans to take on current industry events.

Jokes aside, the IAMT hosts kicked off the first 20 minute episode by diving straight into the world of media industry awards.

They set out to discuss whether the awards market was really just a paid for scam or whether it served any positive purpose.

We won’t give any spoilers away here, but we can guarantee it’s worth having a listen to just for that.

Also on the agenda for the IAMT’s first outing was the perhaps somewhat terrifying notion of the return to the office for many workers in the media sector.

The duo gave some insightful appraisal of the role or the office and the ability to get out and meet industry peers face-to-face.

They also took a glancing look at the events market, the pros and cons of camping holidays in Scotland and pickled eggs. Indeed.

NDA’s new podcast also promises to feature regular guests popping into the studio to give their take on the industry topics of the day.

According to the hosts, the first episode was initially meant to be only a test recording: “But in the spirit of openness, transparency and experimentation is being launched to kick start the series. Which is unlikely to become much more professional as it develops.”

IAMT is keen to hear from industry leaders who may wish to join in with some of the planned future podcasts. They’re also keen to hear from anyone in the media sector with ideas for subjects they may want to cover.

We can’t wait for the next episode.
