Independent creative agency, Matta has appointed Paul Mitcheson to the position of Brand & Strategy Director, a key leadership role in Matta’s growing Brand and Strategy team.

The hire comes at a really important time for the business as it continues its strategic expansion into the fitness, well-being and lifestyle arenas, building on its sports specialism.

Mitcheson, joining from Movember, the leading men’s health charity, which is very much in the headlines this month, brings with him two decades of global experience in brand comms – 11 of them agency-side prior to moving to Movember.

His remit at Matta will include driving Matta’s presence at the intersection of sport and health.

Mitcheson joins Jean-Luc Gentilli who started as Brand & Strategy Director earlier in the autumn.

Previously at AMV BBDO where he worked on accounts such as Ford, the Economist and Unilever brands Gentilli will head up some of Matta’s largest sporting clients. Both he and Paul will report directly into Matt Hunt, Executive Brand & Strategy Director at Matta.

These are just two of the latest in a number of hires at Matta brought on board to grow the agency’s fitness and wellbeing expertise, including Pete Gomori Matta’s new Creative Director who has over 15 years’ experience working with the likes of NowTV and Intersport. Finally, Terry Wong, Senior Brand & Strategy Manager joins from GREY bringing extensive well-being experience working with the likes of GSK.

Following in the footsteps of the agency’s recent ‘For Real Athletes’ campaign for Wattbike which challenged the penthouse-perceptions of home cycling, pushing its beginner-to-superstar credentials to a wider home fitness audience, these new team members will enable Matta to deliver more and better work for its clients in this space.

Matt Hunt, Executive Brand & Strategy Director at Matta commented: “Nothing makes me more satisfied than building out our team with such brilliant, experienced people.

“With our collective experience, we’re now in a really strong position to deliver better work than ever for our clients and increase our stronghold in the fitness, well-being and lifestyle arenas. 2022 is going to be a big year for Matta.”
