Harrogate and London-based creative digital agency Impression has reported an impressive 30% growth in turnover during the past year, despite the current economic headwinds.

The team reported that turnover during 2021/22 rose to £750k, comfortably outstripping the firm’s planned growth of 20%.

Impression Founder and Managing Director, Charlie Hartley, attributed the strong growth to continued increase in demand for digital services, and the investment the firm has made to its internal culture & staff retention.

Impression works with clients that include Power Sheds, Hippo Digital, Infinity Works and KAL Fitness.

Since the pandemic the digital sector has highlighted the need for brands to not only develop their online presence, but to provide their audiences with digital experiences that both excite and engage.

Impression’s achievements in this area have played a major part in their recent growth.

“Life is all about experiences and online shouldn’t be any different,” Hartley said.

“Brands that don’t evolve will inevitably fade away and consumers now more than ever, buy into the ethos of a brand.

“The demand for services in the digital sector has soared and continues to do so, but this comes with challenges due to a volatile recruitment market.

“However we’ve seen this settle down during 2022 and are seeing more stability within the team. The investment into our culture has aided this”.

Staff retention & culture development has been a big focus for the agency, which said it has built an environment where people can enjoy their work, surroundings and flexibility to provide a good work/life balance (see pics below).

Impression has also engaged an external HR consultant to implement a number of projects that go beyond HR support, by including a personal development process and a reward & recognition strategy.

Brand strategy

In addition, Hartley has announced plans to develop the business further with an increased focus on brand strategy.

“The new focus and direction for the business is already helping brands to build emotional connections with customers by creating compelling digital-first brands and digital experiences that both excite and deliver results”.

To facilitate its advanced services, Impression has expanded its delivery team to include brand strategists, copywriters, brand designers and technical specialists; with further hires to be announced in the coming months.

These hires have enabled the agency to combine branding expertise, cutting-edge user experience design and creative excellence to build sophisticated experiences that generate a response emotionally, strategically and commercially.

With such growth Impression has also overhauled its studio to create a dynamic and more creative space for both their team and visiting clients.
