Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram in major global collapse

facebook instagram whatsapp outage - mediashotz

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and FB Messenger have all ceased to operate in a global outage, which some experts are saying is down to an internal error.

The powerful global media platforms are all owned by one company, Facebook and have prompted calls for the social media behemoth to be broken up once and for all.

For hours on Monday users around the world have been unable to access the platforms rendering them virtually non-existent on the internet.

According to Downdetector, which tracks internet issues, the all the facebook owned platforms mentioned above have been down since around 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Facebook CTO Mike Schroepfer had to turn to rival social platform Twitter to apologise to users.

He said: ”*Sincere* apologies to everyone impacted by outages of Facebook powered services right now.

“We are experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore as fast as possible.”

Unsurprisingly, there was nothing from current Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, who is a vociferous Twitter user.

Many brands around the world have current social media strategies in place which rely heavily, perhaps too much so, on the Facebook owned platforms.

Mediashotz believes this amount of power in the hands of one operator cannot be good, productive or safe for other companies and individuals who may be solely reliant on them for income.

One of the biggest issues Instagram faces is the tens of thousands of innocent users who have had their profiles erroneously ‘disabled’ by the image sharing platform. Instagram is worth billions of dollars and boasts 1.3 billion users, but shockingly the company has a staff count of just 450, which might cause many to question how it can properly function.

Facebook, which has a staggering 2.9 billion users has a staff count of around 58,000.

At the time of writing, no-one at mothership Facebook seems accountable or willing to come forward to speak out about the outage.

Mediashotz has contacted Facebook’s press team for any information regarding the global outage.
