A new Channel 4 daily programme, presented by Steph McGovern, will be broadcast live from the Leeds waterfront, the broadcaster has confirmed.
Set to launch this Spring at the heart of Channel 4’s daytime schedule; the show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.
The Steph Show
It will feature a mix of entertainment, lifestyle and light current affairs; with a variety of guests from showbiz, politics and beyond.
“We’ve chosen a brilliant location for our studio in Leeds”, McGovern said.
“We’ve got a lush view over the canal and we’ll be able to have a good nosey at all the people out and about round the Docks.
“Given it’s a live show who knows what might happen! I’m really chuffed, it’s a cracking spot and I can’t wait to welcome my guests to the studio; not to mention the studio audience and viewers at home.
“Not long to go now!”
Rebecca Papworth, executive producer, added: “Leeds Dock is an amazing location for The Steph Show.
“It’s an iconic and stunning waterfront and it’s going to feel incredible to be live from the Dock. Get that water taxi ready!”
Ben Wicks, executive producer, commented: “As a proud Yorkshireman who had to schlep to London for work, I’m thrilled we’re opening a studio with the best view in Britain for the exclusive use of Channel 4’s The Steph Show.
“Our view will take in the stunning Leeds Dock, parts of the city’s skyline, the water taxi, and, most impressively of all, the people of mighty Leeds. Perfect for a show that is for the people and starring the people, inside the studio and out.”
Elizabeth Peckett, of landlords Allied London said: “We’re delighted Leeds Dock is going to be the home of The Steph Show.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity for us; as not only will a live Channel 4 show bring more jobs to the area, there will be more footfall, too.
“We’re an ever-evolving village. We have an independent coffee shop and bakehouse, work spaces for media and tech businesses, yoga studio, gym, hotel, museum and open spaces.
“The increasing buzz will see us continuing to thrive as we develop new work and events spaces; as well as launching a new dockside bar.”
The Steph Show is produced by Expectation in partnership with West Yorkshire-based Can Can Productions. The executive producers are Rebecca Papworth for Can Can Productions and Ben Wicks for Expectation.
