London newspaper, The Evening Standard, has appointed Ben Cobb as Editor of ES Magazine, leading the vision for the London style and culture destination across the newsprint edition and its digital platforms.
Cobb will take up his new role on 4 October and the appointment marks a new era for the iconic publication, which celebrates London’s thriving culture, art, fashion, beauty, food, film and theatre scenes
Ben Cobb
A renowned fashion journalist and tastemaker, Cobb spent over a decade at British fashion magazine Another Man, in roles including Editor-in-Chief, before joining influential style publication LOVE as Co-Editor-In-Chief in early 2020.
Last year he helped to launch Perfect Magazine, a creative community and content platform, alongside his former LOVE colleague Katie Grand.
The magazine said Cobb’s vision for ES will see a sharpening of digital innovation, introducing dynamic new creative voices and extending the magazine’s storytelling from the page into moving image and real life experiences.
Cobb succeeds long-time Editor Laura Weir.
“As a Londoner, ES has always been a part of my life”, Cobb said. “It’s a privilege to edit such an iconic London brand.
“I’m excited to work with the ES team on capturing the energetic soul of this city and reaching a powerful community in London and beyond.”
Emily Sheffield, Editor of the Evening Standard, added: “Ben is an exceptional style and culture editor with impeccable fashion credentials, and I couldn’t be more pleased that he is taking the helm of ES Magazine.
“At such an important and exciting time for London’s vibrant style and culture scene, Ben is the perfect person to further strengthen ES Magazine’s incredible reputation for inspiring interviews and features, and as the go-to guide for everything you need to know about what to wear, see, eat, drink and do.
“I know he will innovate to take ES Magazine to a new level – both digitally and in print.”
Read by 614,000 Londoners every week and with a total digital lifestyle audience of 1.5m, ES Magazine said it sets the London life and style agenda by delivering the capital’s best features and interviews, from politics to pop culture, fashion to food, and to bring alive the city’s vast swell of creative talent.
Last year, ES Mag unveiled a new look site focused on scrollable, clickable content optimised for mobile consumption, and integrating the innovative Brand Stories branded content platform.
The magazine’s biannual fashion edition will be published today, 16 September, coinciding with London Fashion Week.
